Freelancing can be a good option but only for the persistent. I have seen people who lounge about for days, even months on forums and sites, scourging for projects or waiting to land an online contract and it is quite a while before they can get a foothold. I have been lucky in this respect and landed my first project within 10 days of starting as a freelancer ... only to make some big blunders that led me to lose the project as well as the confidence that I can survive in the cyber-jobspace. It was again some time (1 month to be exact) when I actually got a project that I really wanted. But this failure taught me a few things. The first was not to over-commit and to realize my true caliber. Other important lesson that I learned was that cyberspace was a place you had to tread carefully in.

Today, I am listing a few sites that offer online freelance work ... but till date my personal favorite remains GetAFeelancer.com which I have been actively using since the time I started freelancing.

Many sites like Elance and GetAFreelancer provide the funds Escrow facility for safe and amicable settling of the payments. For programmers there are several sites like RentACoder where projects owners and buyers can rent a programmer.

For people who are not highly skilled but can write a decent report or article there are several sites that will allow you to submit articles to them. Usually the articles will go through a review process and once approved will be displayed on the site for the prospective buyers. Constant Content is one such site that provide good rates but only to deserving writers. Another such great site is DailyArticles which is similar to Constant Content but has less stringent rules and .... lower rates.

Freelancing tips for beginners

In this post I will discuss some first hand freelancing tips. These are specifically for beginners who may not have a reputation on the freelancing site or much work behind them to get them a project.

A complete newbie comes across this first roadblock - No reviews. Without some good reviews you are just one of the many wannabe freelancers. Many of these newbies would not even know their job and would fail in the first project itself. Some of them would be no good and would never even recover from the first failure. So... you are pitted against this sea of people who may be no competition to you as far as work is concerned, but the big question is: How does a buyer know if you are good enough or are any different.

The following tips will help you gain recognition:

1. Do some work on your own as samples and upload them for the buyer or employer to see.

2. There is nothing better than good work and consistency. It will pay off in the long run. Never let the initial problems weigh you down.

3. Try not to undersell yourself in desperation.

4. Try multiple forums/sites for work.

5. After completing a project with a buyer ask him to provide you good reviews.

6. As a beginner, you may need to work for lesser money. But remember that in the initial days work is what you are looking for and not only money. Do good work ... greenbacks will follow.

7. Don't lose heart. The initial days for a freelancer can be disheartening and it sometimes you would be tempted to just drop the whole idea. But stick it out and you would be rewarded!!

8. In case you have a day job and are not financially stable enough then freelance only as a part time thing; at least for the first few days (read assignments). There are no guarantees as far as getting work as a freelancer is concerned and it may be days before you are actually able to land a good project.

This site requires no registration fee and there are numerous projects of all fields that can be bid for and won. The process is simple and user friendly and what's more you pay commission to the site only after getting paid! Very few full-fledged freelancing sites would offer this. In fact, I don't know of any ... if you do please let me know. Those who wish to make some money and are not adept at any technical work, can take up copywriting for blogs and sites on this site.

Another great site where you can sell your articles is Constant Content . This site allows you to submit unique articles of your choice, which are then reviewed and if approved, they are put up for sale for a price that you quote. After the sale the site deducts a commission of 35%, so be sure that you price your articles accordingly.

'Make Money on the Internet' Scams

Today I read about this rather dubious method of making money on the Internet and it had all the trappings of a perfect scam. It asked for money and that too by Credit Card (of course you enter your CVV) ... and it promised to deliver stuff that would ensure you earn some thousands of dollars in a day. The best part was that the site assured you that you need not be technically literate to make this insane amount of money on the net. Well ... I mean, do you believe them? Frankly speaking these sites basically talk to the no-goods, desperates and get-rich-quick aspirants.

Anybody who wishes to earn through the Net needs to learn this by heart: THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE TO HARD WORK and those who wish to have you believe otherwise are just kidding... or worse, fooling you. Some of the best honest ways to earn money on the Net while making little or no initial investment are:

1. Freelancing
2. Blogging
3. Affiliate Marketing

Freelancing can be loosely defined as “Working for yourself”. Freelancing can be one of the most feasible options for somebody uninitiated, as far as internet earning is concerned. Others that offer paid membership like www.Directfreelance.com etc. are also present. So, go ahead become a freelancer and create your niche in the world of internet.

Hey guys, this is my first blog post ever and it sure does feel great. I have been planning to blog for some time now ... but guess that it happens when it has to happen. So here I am. I have been here for a while and have experienced it all. Making money through the Internet is not that easy ... but again it is not that difficult too. You don't have to be a genius to understand the stuff and once you get the hang of it ... it starts coming naturally.
